Dealing with and freeing ourselves from negative emotions
by Atman Nityananda /bkes

To work deeply with our emotions we need to deal with them at home, in more favorable conditions, observe them carefully, investigate them, understand them in depth and, in the end, diminish their energy through specific prayer and other methods.

Feeling emotions consciously is the first step to manage and free ourselves from them.

The first step in managing our emotions is to feel them fully and become fully aware of what we feel, how that emotional energy acts within us and in which parts of the body it expresses and moves and what flavor it has.
We observe the state of our mind (altered, agitated, etc.) and of our energetic field when that energy manifests itself (anger, for example, or any other type of emotion), we also observe the thoughts that accompany the emotion and we observe if there is any physical-energetic reaction (body tensions, energetic tensions, etc.).

Feeling and attentively observing the tendencies (defects, emotions, impulses, desires), being in contact with silence, without judging them or repressing them with force will help us to feel more and more comfortable with them, to become familiar with them, to distance ourselves from them and together with the inquiry to know them deeply and all this will help us to work with our emotions in full action throughout the day every time an emotion manifests itself in us.

In addition to feeling the emotion we have to investigate them through inquiry, so that we become aware of them and disidentify ourselves more and more from them, understand them more deeply and reach some realizations that I consider critical for their elimination. For their sisolution it is essential to realize that all egoistic tendencies (anger, fear, gluttony, pride, envy, etc.), are something intrusive in us, that we are not all that, that they are produced against our will, that they harm us in various ways and that they prevent us from living with peace, fullness and love, in conscious contact and harmony with our divine essence (Self).

In order to go deeper into the tendencies, we use a series of probing questions as follows

  1. Is the emotion (gluttony, lasciviousness, anger, restlessness, impatience, fear, jealousy, etc.), my choice, or is it expressed in me automatically and involuntarily?
  2. Are my thoughts and what I think, reality or an interpretation and reaction to reality?
  3. Am I the thoughts or that which is conscious of the thoughts? 4.
Am I the anger (or any other emotion, impulse or desire), or that which is conscious of anger? 5.
  4. Do I want to continue to have these thoughts or emotions (attachments, urges, etc.), or to be free?

At the end of this process of inquiry and understanding, we eliminate the energy of the emotion or emotions we have investigated with a specific prayer (Find this prayer here). After the prayer, I recommend that you do visualizations and positive affirmations. You can also combine prayer with the EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) method.
