Dying moment to moment

🌺 Peace, Love, Harmony

Athena is portrayed as a shrewd companion of heroes and is the patron goddess of heroic endeavour.

The Divine Shakti

In all traditions the Divine Mother protects and guides the aspirants after Truth, and dissolves the egos from their psych.

Glory to Divine Mother, the creator, the sustainer and the destroyer of the universe.

How we dissolve the egoic tendencies

We can dissolve the ego moment by moment by remaining alert, vigilant and aware of ourselves (of the silent space within), by avoiding identification with the mental and emotional reactions and by applying some kind of power or method, for example, a prayer, a mantra or a name of God.

In the state of vigilance and Self-awareness we can observe and notice what happens in our psyche. So, every time we notice an egoic tendency, desire, an impulse or an emotion* to arise in us, we ask to God to dissolve it. After doing it, we continue to remain alert and Self-aware repeating the mantra or the name of God, such as, “Om Nama ama Shivay” or an affirmation of our divine nature such as, Consciousness I am, Peace I am, Love I am, Ooommm Consciousness, Ooommm Peace, Ooommm Love, Ooommm, Ooommm, Ooommm.

Prayer to eliminate egoic energies

Here are two ways in which we can ask the Divine to dissolve egoic energy.

First way

Whenever we notice a tendency (lust, anger, fear, jealousy, or whatever) manifesting in us we gather attention within ourselves and enter as deeply as possible into the inner silence at the center of our existence and being aware of the tendency, we say from our heart:

O Divine Mother (you can also pray to Jesus Christ, or to God, etc. ) eliminate this energy of anger (shame, guilt, or whatever is), or freed my mind from the anger energy and permeate me with light, peace and love. ‘I am peace, love and light’, ‘I am peace, love and light‘, ‘Everything is peace, love and light‘, ‘Only peace, love and light exist’, ‘Ooommm ‘peace, love and light, ‘Ooommm peace, love and light’, Ooommm, Ooommm, Ooommm’. As we say these words, we deepen the contact with the silent presence within us. I emphasize that is very important feeling what we say (not simply saying dry words) and being deeply aware of our inner silence as well.

If necessary we repeat the prayer a few times and we can also use a mantra for the same purpose such as “Om Hriim, Sriim, Kriim Durgaye Namaha”.

Second way

Here is another way to pray for the dissolution of the egoic tendencies

Whenever we notice a tendency (lust, anger, fear, jealousy, or whatever) manifesting in us we gather attention within ourselves and enter as deeply as possible into the inner silence at the center of our existence and being aware of the tendency, we say from our heart:

Divine light, love and healing energy permeate my whole being and eliminate this energy of anger (shame, guilt, or whatever is) or cleanse my mind and heart from the anger energy and permeate me with peace, love and light. ‘I am peace, love and light’, ‘I am peace, love and light‘, ‘Everything is peace, love and light‘, ‘Only peace, love and light exist’, ‘Ooommm ‘peace, love and light, ‘Ooommm peace, love and light, Ooommm, Ooommm, Ooommm’. As we say these words, we deepen the contact with the silent presence within us. I emphasize that is very important feeling what we say (not simply saying dry words) and being deeply aware of our inner silence as well.

The defense mechanisms of ego prevent us from being aware of the play of the various egoic tendencies but in course of time (if we continue to practice systematically, regularly and diligently) we will overcome all obstacles and ego’s resistance.

Constant, diligent, sincere practice

Intense longing for liberation and self-realization, patience, perseverance, sincerity, confidence, faith and love for the inner work are necessary qualities to overcome all obstacles and ego’s resistance.

Moment to moment practice (Self-awareness, detached self-observation, discernment, and Japa mantra) purifies the mind and the heart, dissolves the egoic energies and fills our mind and heart with sattva.

By continuous practice the sattva quality (guna) gradually will increase in our mind,l  and the tamas and rajas qualities will be reduced. The mind will become more and more serene, calm, clear, sharp, peaceful and one-pointed and will develop two of the most important for self-realization qualities, which are, discernment and dispassion.

A pure-sattvic mind is our best friend and the best instrument to eliminate the egoic tendencies as well to do deep meditation and realize our true nature, (Atman or Consciousness).

A sattvic mind is calm, clear, sharp one-pointed, detached and with a high ability to discern between the real from the unreal, the false from the true.

All above mental capacities are necessary to discover all egoic tendencies and patterns and dissolve them by the power of prayer and the name of God.

The repetition of God’s name or a mantra can be also used as a means for meditation and reach the state of samadhi.  In the state of Samadhi we can clearly realize our identity with God Consciousness and experience undistracted eternal peace, plenitude and bliss.

Along with Self-awareness, self-observation and Japa mantra we can apply a variety of practices in order to purify our mind and dissolve the egoic tendencies.

Self-awareness, self-observation, discernment, non-identification, dettachment, dispassion, prayer, Japa mantra, meditation and Self-inquiry constitute the essence of spiritual practice.

NOTE:

* The lower emotions and selfish thoughts are caused by some fundamental aspect of the ego that we call them egoic tendencies or egos. Some of the main egoic tendencies are: lust, lasciviousness, gluttony, vanity, arrogance, pride, envy, hatred, greed.

Thus, for example, sexual thoughts are caused by lasciviousness, food thoughts by gluttony, thoughts of success by pride and vanity etc.).

Anger, fear and depression and most of the negative emotions are effects of the aforementioned fundamental egoic tendencies, desire,. attachment and programming. However, we must work with the emotions in the same way we do with the egoic tendencies. It is necessary to detect which fundamental egoic tendency, desire or programming is behind the anger, fear, depression (or any other emotion) , investigate this tendency and dissolve through some means like prayer.

Every time we notice a desire, an impulse or an emotion to arise in us, we can pray to God or Divine Mother to dissolve it.
