Freedom is the transcendence of duality and the extinction of the ego
Spirituality is not meant to help us make our state of unconsciousness more pleasant.
Its purpose is not merely to give our mind and ego a facelift so that we can live a more enjoyable (for the ego) life.
In fact, the purpose of spiritual life—and life itself—is to transcend both the pleasant and the unpleasant, to eliminate the ego, and to experience the peace and bliss of our Being—beyond the body, the mind, and all pairs of opposites.
