Basic Components of Practice
by Atman Nityananda
Alertness, vigilance, self-awareness, self-observation,
prayer, and the repetition of God’s name or mantra.
Moment-by-moment alertness (attention, guarding the mind, heart, and senses),
Self-awareness (awareness of the inner silent presence, Consciousness, Soul, Spirit),
Control of the mind and senses,
Self-observation (observing thoughts, emotions, impulses, desires, etc.),
Prayer and the repetition of God’s name to maintain Self-awareness, purify the mind and heart, and eliminate egoistic tendencies—
are fundamental aspects of practice in the main spiritual traditions.
The ‘secret’ to a plentiful life, a life of harmony, happiness and contentment is to have a sattvic mind free from desires and ego and to live in every moment in conscious contact with our true Self (Consciousness).
🌺 Peace, Love, Harmony
