Conscious practice is the essence of spiritual growth
by Atman Nityananda / fcb
Conscious attention, awareness, discernment, understanding, and action based on understanding and knowledge from direct experience are fundamental to our spiritual growth.
Mechanical practice without investigation, discernment, understanding, and right action cannot yield significant results or cause deep changes in our psyche.
Therefore, if we wish to advance in self-awareness, it requires clear perception and awareness of our actions and their effects and consequences on our health, psyche, and consciousness. Based on this understanding and knowledge, we must improve our practice and actions.
If we want to free ourselves from the mechanical tendencies, dysfunctions, fantasies, illusions, habits, and negativities of the ego, we must remain in constant alertness, intensive observation, and investigate what we do, how we do it, what effects it has on us, and based on this knowledge, correct and improve our practice or, if necessary, even change part of our program and method of practice.
Thus, constant alertness, observation even in the details, investigation, discernment, understanding, and conscious action are required.
To do these things consistently, one primarily needs a continuous desire for truth and freedom from the illusion of pleasures, the ego, and “mine.” And, of course, steady determination, courage, patience, endurance through difficulties, faith, self-confidence, and ultimately diligent and consistent practice!
If you need inspiration, knowledge, or support, seek help from books, videos, teachers, or advanced practitioners. What you need will come at the right time, as long as you are sincere in your purpose.
Persistence conquers!
The ‘secret’ to a plentiful life, a life of harmony, happiness and contentment is to have a sattvic mind free from desires and ego and to live in every moment in conscious contact with our true Self (Consciousness).
🌺 Peace, Love, Harmony
