Happiness, sattva and the Self
by Atman Nityananda
Happiness, peace, fulfilment and love are implicit in sattva and in our true Self (Consciousness, Atman).
Therefore, if we want to experience them more often and for longer periods, we must increase the sattva quality in our mind, reduce rajas and tamas (this includes the elimination of egoic tendencies) and live in conscious contact with our true Self (Silent space of Consciousness within).
There is no other path to unconditional and lasting happiness. However, liberation is achieved by also overcoming attachment to sattva.
- Verily, this divine illusion of Mine which is constituted of the three gunas (qualities of Nature, -Prakrti) is difficult to pass through. Only those who take refuge in Me cross this illusion.
~ Bhagavad Gita Ch. 7
The ‘secret’ to a plentiful life, a life of harmony, happiness and contentment is to have a sattvic mind free from desires and ego and to live in every moment in conscious contact with our true Self (Consciousness).
🌺 Peace, Love, Harmony
