Hints on dealing with emotions

While what Eckart says in this video forms the foundation and essential elements for addressing emotions and freeing our psyche from them, it is not always as simple as Tolle presents to release and get rid of an emotion—especially if it has hooked onto us.

It becomes challenging when we are not trained to deal with emotions, don’t practice regular meditation, self-awareness, mindful observation, acceptance, non-identification, and adopting a witness attitude.

Every incident is different, and the effectiveness in dealing with emotions, emotional states, or pain depends on various factors, such as the type of emotion, the cause behind it, the related event, person, or situation, our state of consciousness and psychology at that time, the purity of mind, and the presence of sattva in our mind.

Being attentive and connected with inner silence while maintaining a distance from the emotions and experiencing separately them from thought streaming (not fully identifying with them) is the foundation for effectively addressing emotions.

However, we also need tools to enhance awareness and attention and tools to diminish identification and the attraction that emotions exert on us, as well as tools to eliminate emotional energy, such as prayer to the divine power, light, and healing energy to dissolve the negative (low vibrational frequency) emotional energy.

No doubt, acceptance is a crucial element in dealing with emotions.

Finally, I would like to mention that there are various tools to address emotions and diminish their energy. Inquiry, prayer, mantras, EFT, Bach Remedies, positive affirmations, and breathing are some of the most effective and easy-to-use methods.

The ‘secret’ to a plentiful life, a life of harmony, happiness and contentment is to have a sattvic mind free from desires and ego and to live in every moment in conscious contact with our true Self (Consciousness).
